PriceMyMeal ("we", "our", "the site") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What we collect
Without an account: We do not collect any personal information. Your watchlist, compare lists, and theme preference are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
With an account: If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your authentication provider. This is handled by Clerk (our authentication provider). Your watchlist, compare lists, and preferences are synced to your user profile so they work across devices.
Analytics: We may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the site is used (page views, popular chains/countries). We do not track individual users or sell data to third parties.
How we use your data
Your account data is used solely to provide the sync and personalisation features you've opted into by signing in. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing purposes.
Cookies
PriceMyMeal uses minimal cookies. We use localStorage to save your theme preference (dark/light mode) and, if signed in, a session cookie managed by Clerk for authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Third-party services
Clerk (authentication) — processes sign-in data. See Clerk's privacy policy.
Google / Apple (OAuth sign-in) — we receive only the basic profile information you authorise during sign-in.
Vercel (hosting) — serves the website. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Your rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the user menu. Without an account, no personal data is stored on our servers. If you're in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data under GDPR. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Data security
All connections to PriceMyMeal are encrypted via HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Clerk, which provides industry-standard security. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely through Google/Apple OAuth.
Children's privacy
PriceMyMeal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
